WOLVES TAKE ON COLTS IN VOLLEYBALL HOME OPENER

WOLVES TAKE ON COLTS IN VOLLEYBALL HOME OPENER

Ottawa, Ont. — The Algonquin Wolves are set to kick off their 2025-26 OCAA volleyball campaign on home court Saturday, October 25, as they welcome the Centennial Colts for a season-opening doubleheader at the Jack Doyle Athletics & Recreation Centre.

The women's team enters the new campaign with high expectations following an already impressive 12-6 regular season in 2024-25. All five of the team's top scorers are returning, including standout sophomores Carys Tenthorey and Cambria Alford, who both had breakthrough rookie seasons. They'll be joined once again by veteran leaders Grace Pate, Isabella Tourangeau, and Gabbie Paquette, as the Wolves look to capitalize on the chemistry they built last year. The roster also gets a boost with the addition of experienced transfer Pasha Ormerod, who joins the Wolves after two seasons with the Durham Lords. Ormerod was named to the OCAA All-Rookie Team in 2018-19 and helped her team earn an OCAA bronze medal.

On the men's side, the Wolves are focused on achieving greater consistency after an up-and-down 2024-25 season that ended with an 8-10 record. A key return this season is middle blocker Connor Finnie, who re-joins the lineup after a one-year hiatus. In his first two seasons with the Wolves, Finnie was a dominant presence, amassing 116 kills and 68 blocks in just 23 matches, earning OCAA All-Star honours twice. He'll reunite with last year's rookie sensation Mateo Nunez Kruus, who was named to the OCAA East All-Rookie Team and earned Second Team All-Star recognition in his debut season.

With a reinforced lineup, experienced leadership, and a home crowd behind them, the Wolves are poised to set the tone for a successful season.
