As the Wolves basketball teams finished the regular season, the volleyball teams put their seasons on the line in the first round of the OCAA playoffs. Here is how each team fared.
Women's Volleyball (3-0 Qualifying Win vs Niagara)
After finishing 3rd in the East, the Wolves women's volleyball team hosted the Niagara Knights who finished the regular season 6th in the West.
The Wolves made quick work of the Knights sending the home crowd home happy with a 3-0 sweep. Algonquin took the first set 25-20 and managed to grab the next two 25-18 and 25-11. The Wolves played some of their best volleyball when it mattered. Carys Tenthorey had another big performance with 13 kills and 2 aces. Riley Lancia had 9 kills and 4 aces. Gabbie Paquette finished with 4 blocks, 4 kills and 25 assists.
Next up, the Wolves will travel to Toronto to take on the Humber Hawks in the ¼ Final next weekend.
Men's Volleyball (3-2 Loss @ Redeemer)
The Wolves men's volleyball team travelled to Ancaster Ontario to take on the Redeemer Royals in the first round of the OCAA playoffs. Redeemer entered the contest with a 9-7 record, good for 4th place in the West division.
It was a solid atmosphere with a packed house in the small Redeemer gym but the crowd didn't seem to phase the Wolves early on. Algonquin took the two first sets 25-23 and looked poised to come away with a win. The Royals had other plans, winning the next 3 sets 25-22, 25-16 and 15-11 to earn a spot in the OCAA ¼ Final.
Despite the loss, Nick Gauthier Barber and Connor Finnie had big games with 13 kills each.
The heartbreaking loss ends the Wolves 2025-26 campaign after a 10-6 regular season and a loss in the qualifying round. We would like to take a moment to thank our graduating seniors for their contributions to the men's volleyball program. To those returning, we are already looking forward to seeing you back on the court next October.
Women's Basketball (63-58 Loss vs Loyalist - 92-26 win vs St. Lawrence)
The Wolves women's basketball team played their final 2 games of the regular season at home. On Friday they hosted the undefeated Loyalist Lancers. The game was close throughout but Loyalist seemed to have an answer for every run and ultimately won 63-58.

Men's Basketball (93-80 Loss vs Loyalist - 61-60 Win vs St. Lawrence)
Our men's basketball team also closed out the season at home against Loyalist and St. Lawrence. On Friday they hosted a Lancers squad who were coming off a big win against top seeded Durham. The game was close throughout with multiple lead changes. The Lancers came up with a 4th quarter run and didn't look back ultimately winning 93-80.
Haven Holder imposed his will inside with a 22 point and 10 rebound double double. James Texeira had 15 points and 4 assists. Shyeem Brown was also in double figures with 13 points, 7 assists and 6 boards.
On Saturday they hosted the St. Lawrence Surge in an important matchup for playoff positioning. A win would secure the 6 seed. A loss would drop the team down to 8th meaning a dreaded first round playoff matchup in Windsor against the top seed in the West, the St. Clair Saints. Prior to the game, Nestor Vaval, Aryan Arefagha Castro, James Texeira and Haven Holder were thanked for their contributions to the men's basketball program on Senior Night.
This was another close one that came down to the final possession. After a missed free throw, the Wolves were able to come up with a defensive stop to seal the 1 point win.
Haven Holder was once again a force inside with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Shyeem Brown had 15 points, 5 assists, 4 boards and 4 steals and hit a clutch field goal in the final minutes with the shot clock winding down to put the team up. PJ Hackshaw had 11 points and 14 rebounds. Hackshaw's athleticism was on full display all game long.
