In a rematch of last year's OCAA quarter-final, the Algonquin Wolves and Fanshawe Falcons met up on Wednesday October 15th in the 1st round of the 2025 OCAA playoffs. The winner would take on the Sheridan Bruins who defeated the George Brown Huskies earlier in the day. The loser would see their season come to an end.
The Wolves scored the games opening goal in the 26th minute when Alix Basa fed Gershom Dupuy on the right side who slipped it past the Fanshawe keeper. The Wolves controlled the play for most of the half but would go into the locker room with a 1-nil lead.
Algonquin continued to control the play in the 2nd half but struggled to beat the Falcons keeper who finished the match with 15 saves, including on off a penalty kick. They were finally able to solve him in the 75th minute when Alix Basa scored off a Alaa Mahfouz corner kick. Algonquin would add 2 more before this one was over. Shortly after entering the game, Mohammed Mecheri curved a left footed strike into the bottom corner of the net in the 78th minute. OCAA scoring champion Alessandro Vivolo got on the board in the 88th minute to finish off the scoring.
The Wolves came away with a 4-1 win with the only blemish coming on an own goal. Next up is a rematch from last year's provincial semi-final against the Sheridan Bruins, this time in the quarter-final on Saturday October 18th at 3:00 pm at the Algonquin Sports Field.
