The Wolves men's soccer season came to a close on October 26th after hosting the OCAA Final 4 at the Algonquin Sports Field.
On Saturday October 25th the Wolves took on the Conestoga Condors in the 1st semi-final. The Condors finished 2nd in the OCAA West with an 8-2 record. Their only losses this season came 1-nil at the hands of the Humber Hawks, the top team in the OCAA West.
The Condors got the better of the Wolves with Marko Lesic scoring 3 straight goals in the 31st, 60th and 78th minute. The Wolves were able to make a late push to make the game interesting. Mohammed Mecheri scored in the 83rd minute off a pass from Alix Basa to get the Wolves on the scoreboard. 5 minutes later OCAA Player of the Year Alessandro Vivolo tapped in a pass from Gershom Dupuy. The Wolves continued to push for the equalizer but were unable to find one before the final whistle blew. Alix Basa was named player of the game for the Wolves.
In the 2nd semi-final the Humber Hawks took down the Seneca Sting 3-nil to set up a championship match between the Hawks and Condors. The Wolves and Sting would play for bronze. Kerim Tosun was the Wolves player of the game selection. Alix Basa was named to the tournament All-Star team.
The bronze medal match between the Sting and Wolves was a rematch of the last week of the regular season. Algonquin dropped a 4-2 decision to the Sting back on September 26th in Toronto. Unfortunately for the home team, the Sting were able to get the better of them once again winning 2-nil to take home the bronze medal.
The weekend ended with an exciting championship match between the Hawks and Condors. Conestoga was able to hand Humber their 1st loss of the season 2-nil. Both finalists will represent the OCAA at the CCAA National Championship that will be held from November 5th to 8th in Saint-Lambert Quebec.
