McDonald OCAA East 1st Team All-Star - McLean East Coach of the Year

The OCAA recently announced the list of award recipients for the 2021-2022 women's basketball season and two members of our team have received honors. 

#4 Dasia McDonald had a very impressive first year averaging 14.9 points and 4.6 rebounds over 8 regular season contests.  Her efforts were enough to earn her a spot on the OCAA East All-Rookie Team as well as the East 1st All-Star Team.  McDonald's had an impressive postseason performance in the OCAA ¼ final, stuffing the stat sheet with 25 points, 7 steals, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. 

Head coach Jaime McLean received OCAA East Coach of the Year honors.  The Wolves finished off the season with a 7-1 record and managed to pick up two OCAA playoff wins.  With the help of his coaching staff. McLean led his squad to the 2nd best defence and 2nd best offense in the OCAA East averaging just over 64 points per game while only giving up 52.5.  

Algonquin advanced to the OCAA final 4 after a 66-45 win over the Lambton Lions in the OCAA ¼ finals.  The team would face some significant adversity during the final 4 and would eventually fall 67-52 to the Niagara Nights in the bronze medal game.
