TARYN MITCHELL NAMED OCAA AND CCAA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Ottawa, ON - Fifth year point guard Taryn Mitchell has been named the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week, as well as the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for the week of November 26th.

Taryn had a dominant pair of games last weekend and filled the stat sheet. Against Geroge Brown Taryn finished with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. However, it was her performance against the Centennial Colts the next day where she put the league on notice. Taryn had a triple double, finishing with 33 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds in the thrilling overtime victory.

In her debut season with the Wolves, the Port Colborne native has quickly emerged as a complete two-way standout. Offensively, she leads the OCAA in scoring with 20.0 points per game, while sitting fourth in assists with 28. On the defensive side, she leads Algonquin in steals, rebounds, and minutes played — proving her value as a cornerstone player on both ends of the floor.

Catch Trayn and the rest of the Wolves on the court tomorrow night when they host the Seneca Sting for their annual Shoot for the Cure game, and their final game of the fall semester.
