Ottawa, ON — The Algonquin Wolves women's volleyball team remained perfect on the season with a decisive 3–0 victory over the Loyalist Lancers on Saturday night at a packed Jack Doyle Athletics & Recreation Centre. The match served as the program's annual Maverick Volleyball Club Appreciation Night, with the Wolves feeding off the energy of a strong home crowd to move to 3–0.
Algonquin set the tone early, getting out to a 5–0 lead early in the opening set. Setter Gabbie Paquette got everyone involved, with Carys Tenthorey, Isabella Tourangeau, Natasha Lauzon, and Chanel Ethier each scoring early kills. The Wolves combined their balanced offense with an strong service game that kept Loyalist out of rhythm. Back-to-back aces from Tourangeau extended the lead to 11–3, forcing a Lancers timeout. Algonquin continued to control play out of the break and closed out the set 25–12.
The second set proved tighter as the teams were deadlocked at 17–17, but the Wolves capitalized on a Loyalist error before Chanel Ethier went on a service run to push the Lancers out of the system. A left-side kill from Cambria Alford widened the gap. With set point, Algonquin's defense extended a long rally that Pasha Ormerod finished with a transition kill from the middle. The Wolves took the set 25–19 to go ahead 2–0.
Algonquin carried that momentum into the third set, racing to an 8–3 advantage. The Wolves' defense was a major factor throughout the match, out-digging Loyalist 77–39 and limiting second-chance opportunities. With the Lancers scrambling late, Emily Villeneuve closed the match with a swing off the block, sealing a 25–16 set win and the 3–0 sweep.
