Jacob joins The Pack after spending the past nine seasons as an Assistant Coach and Recruit Coordinator for the Brock University Badgers Men's Volleyball program, who compete in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) conference. Barker began his coaching journey in 2017 with the Niagara Rapids Volleyball Club, where he gained extensive experience in both Assistant and Head Coach roles. During the 2024-2025 season he led his 18U Boys team to their highest ever finish, earning a bronze medal in the Premier division of the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) McGregor Cup. He was also involved in the Team Ontario White boys program in 2025 as a Head Coach.
When asked about his excitement to be taking over the Wolves men's volleyball program, Jacob had this to say.
"I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to take the reins of the Men's Volleyball program here at Algonquin College. The staff have been incredibly supportive in the early stages of my tenure and I thank them for putting their trust in me for this role. The Ottawa volleyball community is extremely strong, and I see plenty of opportunities to strengthen our relationship with the local clubs and community to create a connection unique to the Ottawa region. Furthermore, I am committed to providing the student-athletes in our program with a quality experience on and off the court that prepares them for their respective future endeavors."
